Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the process where a therapist facilitates a client in obtaining a hypnotic state. The hypnotherapist will induce a state of relaxation and take the client into a trance state where their awareness is heightened by using suggestion and other therapeutic techniques. The therapist then aims to trigger the self-healing processes of the mind, body and spirit which lie in the person’s subconscious.
Hypnotherapy is a psychological therapy which primarily aims to help people who want to change the way they think, feel or behave. It can help the client accept themselves and others and encourage and motivate a person to take their own journey of personal development allowing them to fulfil their potential and life purpose. This is why hypnotherapy works best when the client is ready and willing for changes to take place.
What are the benefits of hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can be used for a wide range of conditions especially if they are causing you uncomfortable or unwanted thoughts, feeling or behaviours. Psychosomatic illnesses can respond well to hypnotherapy – they are just as real as a ‘physical’ illness.

Who can receive hypnotherapy?
Anyone can receive hypnotherapy. If you suffer from a mental condition such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, clinical depression or the like then you will not be given a session without permission from your GP or consultant. It may not be a suitable therapy for you.
Anyone can be induced into a light or deep hypnotic state. Some are more receptive than others (we are all different). The main thing is that the client is willing to undergo the process of hypnotherapy and wants to make changes in their life.
Hypnotherapy may have dramatic and fast effects on the person or be more subtle and take longer to come about. This again is due to the uniqueness of each client.
N.B. Contraindications - if you suffer from epilepsy, schizophrenia or clinical depression, you should consult your GP before approaching a hypnotherapist.
What can I expect from a hypnotherapy session?
Before starting a hypnotherapy session I will go through a consultation process with you and discuss your medical history, conditions and the problems you wish to address at this time. I want you to feel totally comfortable and at ease and am happy to answer any questions you have and listen to anything else you wish to tell me at this point.
No two sessions are exactly alike however most clients do find the whole experince of a hypnotherapy session deeply relaxing and enjoyable.
A majority of clients will find themsleves feeling either really heavy or light and floaty as they go into a state of deep relaxation. They may also feel physical sensations such as wanting to swollow, body twitches, eye movement and fluctuations in their breathing pattern. These are all normal reactions during a session.
Most clients will find their awareness of the room around them hightened, such as sensitivity to sound and temperature, and remember all or most of what is said or happens during a session. It is rare but a few clients may find that they go so deeply into the relaxed state of hypnosis that they are unable to remember anything of the session once finished. This is also a safe and natural reaction.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes hypnotherapy is completely safe. You remain in control at all times and can come out of the hypnosis at any time you wish during a session.
Hypnotherapy is a safe and natural therapy with no harmful side effects when conducted by a competent and highly trained professional such as myself.
