Colour Therapy

Colour Therapy (or Chromotherapy) dates back to ancient Egypt. The Egyptian healers used coloured glass through which they shone light from the sun and also crystals to help balance the energy of a person with colour.
Colour can evoke a very strong emotional response in a person. Colour can affect our state of mind. We often use phrases like ‘I saw red’ ‘I am tickled pink’ ‘I feel blue’ to describe our emotional state.
In 1947 a scientist called Krakov found that red light stimulated the adrenal glands, gave a rise in blood pressure and pulse whereas exposure to blue light calmed all these systems down. Colour it appears can not only evoke an emotional or mental response but also a physical one.
Colour Therapy can be used to identify where the body is unbalanced and blocked and then, by use of a variety of techniques, enhance and balance the entire energy system of an individual.
It is a gentle and non-invasive therapy which can be very powerful and can invoke a variety of reactions from a client.

What can I expect a Colour Therapy session to be like?
Firstly I will ask you questions about medical history, any existing conditions or issues, environment, lifestyle and life goals. I may also ask you to carry out some simple and fun exercises. I will do this so that I can determine which frequencies and wavelengths are out of balance – in excess or depleted – and so which colours you need to include or exclude from your life.
During the session I may talk you through a series of breathing exercises and meditation, use crystals, coloured scarves, coloured lights or acetates and give you specific colour essences as drops on the tongue.
Treatments are relaxing and usually have a deep profound effect as it will touch areas in our lives that need attention and these can be very sensitive.
I may suggest ways that you can incorporate colour therapy into your life outside of these colour therapy sessions. You will be able to ask questions and discuss with me ways of balancing your energy and life through colour.
